Review: The Rich Jerk

During last weekend, I spent a few hours reviewing an e-book most people refer to as The Rich Jerk. The first page of the e-book says: Making Money on the Internet is Easy - I’m better than you because I am rich.

I doubt anyone would use this as title, not to mention a good. But that’s not important at all. The tension it has built in the sales letter is enough for me to dive into content to see what he has to say. Afterall, isn’t it the content that matter?

Overview

The Rich Jerk is basically a concise guide to making money on the Internet. Unlike any other product, it doesn’t focus on one particular thing only but on several money making and solid venture at once. The tips are straight to the target and if implemented correctly will definitely earn you more than the cost of this e-book.

Review

The Rick Jerk e-bookIf you’ve been actively browsing for new products or simply searching for things to making money on the Internet or affiliate programs recently, you nevertheless will notice some Google AdWords ads that are simply annoying but undoubtly compelling.

The ads say something like: “I’m better than you, because I earn millions” or similar. That is how the advertiser attract you to click. At the very least, it succesffully raised my curiosity, and led me to the sales letter and then order button. I can say that the author sell a lot of copies this way.

The Rich Jerk, although no where I can find the name of the writer of this book, has done a good job of summarizing important points on earning income form the Internet into a 47-page short manual. It may be a bit expensive for a thin e-book like this, which currently costs $97.

The Rich Jerk consists of 9 chapters, which covers:

  1. Affiliate program strategies
  2. Pay-per-click search engine metods
  3. Search engine optimization strategies
  4. Information product marketing
  5. Buying and sellng wholesale on eBay
  6. Fast income websites
  7. Other online ventuers
  8. Supllemental info
  9. Quality products or services

I would say that if you are a complete beginner to the web business, this e-book may not be the best for you. But if you have a web site on progress, or an AdWords campaign running, the material contained may help you get some basics right.

This e-book has raised some ideas and ways to implement something, but no details as to how to do it. If you want a complete step-by-step guide, again this guide won’t do nothing but disappoint you, because it is not what it was designed to be.

With that said, the material in this book can save you a bunch of time researching what really works on the Internet, and at the same time keep you away from scams.

I can’t say everything in this e-book works because I don’t have background on all money making methods revealed in this book. I certainly nod for most part of the first four chapters which I gained some familiarity for years. Some of these strategies are considered blackhat but most of them very powerful.

In summary, if you believe in investing in yourself in the form of constant education, this e-book may be valuable as a source of ideas, quick tips and reference. It surely worth more than $97 for me.

I already said this once before on another site…

I read the Book from a friend and I’m glad I did not spend one dime on that piece of garbage, the guy more than a Jerk is obviously a spammer and making big time profit of it.

Mandrake, can you elaborate more about this? The information contained withing the e-book is powerful and absolutely is not for newbie. As with any powerful information, you have to practice carefully or otherwise you can lose your money.

For example, when it talks about AdWords I found that if you have never made the advertising program works for you then really there is no point that his ad will pay off. Other factors like landing pages, keywords targeting, etc. matter.

Again, unfortunately if you can mention what you don’t like about the e-book and why you name it a bad name, I guess we can go into an interesting discussion…

I bought the Rich Jerk to see what it was all about. Giving people rebates for buying through you is a joke, obviously the guy has never done it in his life because if he had, he would know that this would be more of a hassle than it’s worth, with all the added record keeping and the time to give people back their rebates it wouldn’t be worth it. And relying on them not asking for their rebate is just downright dishonest, and unethical.

Look, do you want to beg people to buy something? What kind of business is that? This business is a numbers game, you get 1500 people to your website each month and you can make roughly $150 per month per website, it’s really that simple. Begging people to buy from your link is not the way to go, taking the time to give them back a rebate is not the way to go.

Playing traffic middleman like the Rich Jerk suggests is not the way to go. Why? Because it would take you forever, writing ads, analyzing which keywords are doing well and which aren’t, deleting the ones that aren’t, trying to figure out why some did well one month but didn’t the next and wondering if you should delete those too. Making up pages specifically designed for each keyword just to get them to click on the Adsense ads.

Look, if you’ve ever run a PPC campaign you know how much work it is, and how much of a royal pain it is, and how much it costs.

Besides, the numbers don’t add up either. If you get a 5% click through rate, which is considered very good, that means you got a -95% click through rate. So if you get traffic at .10 through Miva and then try to get people to click on your Adsense ads for say $1, you would do nothing but lose money every time at a 5% click through rate. So if 5 out of 100 people clicked on your Adsense ads, you would be spending $9.5 dollars to make $5 dollars, and thus lose money.

And let’s just say you could get it to work, you could get traffic for $.05 and average $1 per Adsense click, and make money, great, but do you know how hard you would have to work at that? How many hours it would take just to setup 20 good keywords?

No, I’m sorry, I don’t buy the Rich Jerks techniques, thanks but no thanks. I’ll stick with using Wordtracker to find keywords, I’ll stick with using an analyzer to find keywords that have very little competition, I’ll stick with a page generator that will make my keyword pages for me, I’ll stick with using a combination of affiliate marketing and contextual advertising on each website, I’ll stick with getting my pages indexed and making it so those pages stay fresh with quality content, and I’ll get each of my websites to make roughly $150 per month.

No begging for people to buy.
    No paying for traffic.
No wasted time on PPC campaigns.
No wasted time on trying and begging other website owners to exchange links with me.
No manipulating people to buy a product from my website, or offering some gimmick.
    No No No

Just quality websites which bring in organic traffic which are useful to people if they want to buy some wine online, or a computer, or a monitor, or some airline tickets, or some software, or some clothes, or tens of thousands of other things.

Anyway that’s my two cents worth, but there is no one right way in this business, and if you can make it your way then I say more power to you!

    David,

Thanks for visiting and leaving your comment.

    1. I don’t urge my readers to buy from me. Never in this blog or by any other means.

    2. Rich Jerk methods are not for the faint of heart. Some of them, I didn’t recommend if you read in my post above. Others require some basic before you can get it work. If you can, really, the book can be a great investment. Why do you think I and other fellow marketers can do it while you can’t?

    3. 5% CTR is not high. I’ll give you a tip. If you want to be a traffic middleman, create topics which will be of interest to more people than say fishing trout. In one of my niche, I get up to 40% of CTR. Others reported better than that but I can’t seem to do it. If this is not for you, there are tens of other methods to try.

    4. Sure you can use WordTracker and your own techniques to find keywords and research niches, and in that book, there is nothing to recommend against them.

    5. Pay Per Click has been used by thousands of others successfully. It is by no means the greatest investment you can get. It requires a lot of work, but once you’ve done it. It’s a matter of feeding $1 to get $1.5 or $2 or $3. Depends on your skills, you may have to test and track things very closely for weeks or even months.

    6. The fact that you use page generator suggests that you spam the search engines (correct me if I am wrong). One technique that I frequently talk about and fight against in this blog. With all those gimmicks you offer there, still your site is not here for the long haul. Google now allows anyone to report your spam sites and blogs. I suggest to comply with Google, it is very possible. If you are serious about your business, I recommend you go this way. In this blog, I focus on creating business instead of money maker.

    7. Rich Jerk has also mentioned Traffic Equalizer and Article Bot, but really you can create one or two pages of great content and be an instant traffic middleman. Again, I recommend against using TE and AB, particularly if you want to trick the search engines.

    8. Signature removed because it is against the policy of this blog.

It appears that you are the pot calling the kettle black David.

While not all of the Rich Jerk’s methods will sit well with everyone (hello, you can’t please all of the people all of the time) - his methods do work.

To say that “obviously the guy has never done [the rebates] in his life” is ill thought out. You don’t know what the Rich Jerk has or hasn’t done and you can only speculate.

But if you’ve actually taken the time to confer with others who have tried this method, you may realize that it’s not that much more work, and it can be a better pay off.

Large companies (Sony, Amazon, etc.) and smaller retailers all have rebate programs, and I’m fairly sure that they are successful - otherwise they wouldn’t be doing it.

The additional work you speak up can be automated or outsourced while still keeping the profit margins reasonable.

Also - I must concur with Hendry’s observation regarding your admission to using a “page generator” - that doesn’t sound all that white hat to me.

I would avoid advertising with Miva. I have found most of their traffic is clickfraud.

I know David Kuvelas. He tried doing a pay website for giving stock trades and failed. Then he tried a Forex trade site and failed. Now… he’s got nowhere to go and has bought everything he can to learn how to do this. He’s basically copying other people and selling it as if he were doing this for years. He just started doing this Nov/2005. He’s a novice claiming to be an expert. Oh yeah… he also teaches people how to make money winning at blackjack WITHOUT counting cards. Uh… yeah right. Stay away from Kuvelas… he sells snake oil.

    Chase Vedder,

I see you going around the Internet pretending to know me, how funny.

I tried doing a stocks site and failed? I tried a forex site and failed?

Tell me, where do you get your information at? The Enquirer?

I’ve been doing “this” (Internet Marketing) since “Nov/2005″?

Wow, so if I’ve been doing this since Nov 2005 as you say, and I was able to come up with an extensive 13 hour video course on Internet Marketing in March/2006, that’s a pretty good trick wouldn’t you say?

    Yeah, you know me alright.
