You have prepared yourself with the right mindset to begin the journey. Now which business are you going to start?
Perhaps, you heard a lot of talk these days about niche. It is actually an old concept but when it comes to building a business online, suddenly it becomes necessary and critical.
You don’t want to be the next portal for all sources of information. Not that it couldn’t work, but you need millions in capital to produce a site of that size.
A niche business is simply a business which serves a specific market group. If you are living in a small town, the number of people who are collecting stamps might not exceed a few hundreds but if you are targeting this niche on the Internet, suddenly the number grows to a number probably all of us could make a fortune on.
To get your ideas rolling, start with one or more of these:
- Brainstorm your ideas. Focus on quantity rather than quality for now.
- Write down the topics you excel in. It might be an experience or skills people think you are good at.
- Think about your hobbies. Many people are earning a living doing what they love. There is no reason why you can’t do the same.
- Read magazines. Visit online magazine stores to access to endless supply of any magazine. You don’t have to buy them, just seeing the topics will spike ideas on a potential niche market.
- Visit online bookstores. A book is another indication there is a niche market around the topic.
- Get ideas in shopping comparison stores. Why would people sell a product without potential buyer? Every product category is a potential niche.
- Research what people are doing business in online auction sites. eBay has hundreds of categories people where people are earning good money from it.
Again, focus on quantity instead of quality. Let the ideas flow. We have more time to sift through the list later. Right now, you don’t want to miss what might be the most lucrative niche or business idea within your reach.
It is not uncommon that you finish the list in a few hours, but others may get ideas days after they started this process.
While jotting down ideas, you may find new places where you could dig more ideas for a niche business. Keep writing, because you will never have a list too long for this.
